2023 Domaine des Cotes Rousses 'Ensemble' Altesse

A winemaker in Lamotte-Servolex, Savoie, north of Chambéry, Nicolas Ferrand produced his first vintage in 2014. A graduate in land-use planning, he began his winemaking career in 2010. This was undoubtedly a way for him to reconnect with his roots, as his grandparents, farmers in the Bauges Mountains, used to produce their own wine.

Nicolas and his wife, Marielle Ferrand, own a 6-hectare vineyard (2 hectares of red grapes and 4 hectares of white). The vines are located in the commune of Saint Jean de la Porte, supplemented by half a hectare in Monthoux and Montmélian. The terroirs, planted between 300 and 580 meters in altitude, are very steep (45% and more) and consist of marl mixed with foliated limestone and glacial moraines. 

Textural yet finishes lean and lifted, a very delicious wine that leans more on the classic side of things
