2022 Stagiaire Wines 'Sultana of Swat' Old Vine Carignan

From Feliz Creek vineyards, up a ravine from Hopland that channels coastal winds inland. The same place where cuvees such as ‘Sapphires’ and the original ‘Dangerous to go Alone’ came

from. This Carignan is 100-120 years old depending on the section, surely some of the oldest in the state. Organic and dry farmed ever since who knows when.

Picked at beautiful ripeness in 2023. The clusters were macerated whole-cluster for about 10 days before pressing off to tank to finish fermentation. Aged in barrels for a year. It does what I want Carignan to do. A medley of black and red fruit. Spices. That sensation thats like sucking on a penny or touching a 9V battery to your tongue(minerality!?).
