2022 Everwild 'I am in Cosmos, Cosmos is in Me' Riesling

Planted in 2014 and tended solely by Gloria, a self-proclaimed 75 year-old "farm girl", who vehmently shews all use of chemicals in the vineyard. There are 6 varietals on this small 2 acre plot of vines - including one very long row of Riesling, which yields just about 1 ton of fruit.

We were thrilled to find this small lot of California grown Riesling this year and interested to see how its character would present from this hot central California site. Luckily, Riesling is exceptionally good at retaining acid, and the fruit held its own even in this year of extreme heat
After an early morning pick to beat the heat and a 3 hour drive back to Richmond, we gave the grapes a light tread and pressed off the juice to begin fermentation in an open top container. As the ferment came to completion the wine was racked into stainless barrels where it rested over the winter for 7 months before bottling.
Idigenous yeast fermentation. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, with nothing added
